Title: Staying at the TOP
“It is easy to reach the Top but it is hard to stay there!”
This is what people commonly believe and share - but this is where I totally disagree! On the contrary, reaching the Top is never easy and staying there is not hard, albeit both are quite challenging and exciting journeys!
When our team took over the just reformed District-79, there were a few skeptical people who thought our District would have a tough time competing as it got only one third of the old District-79. Under the old Distinguished District Program, Size mattered.
However, many of the leaders thought differently and clearly saw the great opportunity to conquer the pinnacle of the Toastmasters world for a very simple reason: our District had a very amazing trail where it was always one of the top 5 Districts since it was formed. As a matter of fact, within the short life-span of Distrcit-79, it made it to the top twice. Similarly, the district made it to the 2nd position included the year just preceding the reformation.
The district Heritage of being one of the best was simply a great asset for our visionary leaders to utilize effectively and our strategy became very simple and clear:
We are District No. ONE and we will recover our well-deserved title!
That strategy infiltrated the entire District and every member started to feel it and to live it, until we made it to the top regaining our title as “District No. ONE!”
As such, with the whole world attesting that we are “District No. ONE”, we have no option but just to continue demonstrating that we are worthy of our title!
Members of Division- Great,
What is said about our destiny in District No. ONE, to great extent applies to you also where you have no option but to continue demonstrating your own greatness as you have done last term if not better.
With you as members and with your wise leadership, Division Great shall continue to amaze the world living and fulfilling the Toastmasters’ mission by expanding the club networks in order to reach more and more people of all backgrounds and origins helping them developing their skills and finding their own story.
Great Toastmasters is your mission,
Great Toastmasters is your destiny,
Great Toastmasters are who you are!
Title: Integrity and our Toastmasters values
Lately, I have been asked frequently, which one of the four Toastmasters values is the most important in your opinion?
My answer is always, INTEGRITY!
Not to underestimate the other great values, but none of the other values makes sense without integrity. There is something inherent with values in that what matters isn’t what’s done to promote the value compared to what’s done not to breach the value.
As such, without walking the talk, no value can withstand the acid test of integrity and all values are bound to collapse.
So, while our values of “Dedication to Excellence”, “Service to Members” and “Respect for the Individual” are our powerful vehicles as we strive to live the Toastmasters, District and Club Missions, “Integrity” stands out as the foundation of everything we seek to accomplish and sustain.
So let us all not only talk and promote the Toastmasters’ values but live them day and night and thereby reap the amazing rewards both on the ground and within our own selves.
